Dr Andrew Brodrick
Prior to setting up the first in a string of successful companies, Andrew was an NHS Pharmacist in Birmingham and North Yorkshire for 10 years. He went on to establish Bio-Medical Services Ltd in 1982 followed by BMS Laboratories six years later.
BMS Laboratories manufactured liquid, semisolid, tablet and capsule pharmaceutical products for clients including Reckitt Benckiser, SSL International, Merck Healthcare, Ashbourne Pharma, Dermal Laboratories and Lagap. Recognising the potential of BMS Laboratories, Andrew successfully negotiated an investment by 3i plc, enabling him to double the size of the factory and purchase underperforming Meridian Healthcare, the London-based generic manufacturer.
In 2002, Andrew successfully sold BMS Laboratories to the global pharmaceuticals company, Dr Reddy’s in a £multi-million deal.
After a period of gardening leave, in 2004 Andrew established a medical devices company, CD Medical. The company launched a range of specialist wound care products and was subsequently sold to its UK distributor in 2008.
Andrew has developed and brought to Market a number of well-known prescription products including:
- Broflex Syrup – an anti Parkinson oral liquid
- Biorphen – an anti Parkinson oral Liquid
- CX Powder – sterile Chlorhexidine dusting powder (sterile)
- Emmolate – an emollient bath oil one variant being acquired by Novartis and sold under the Savlon Trademark
- Irripod – Sterile Saline irrigation ‘pods’
- Stericlens – Sterile Saline aerosol using ‘bag in can’ technology
- Emollin – Topical mixed Paraffins aerosol for dry skin
Dr Rod Adams
After graduating, Rod worked for a number of pharmaceutical companies before forming his own company, Adams Healthcare, following a Management Buyout from Depuy International in 1997.
Adams Healthcare specialized in Infection Control and Dermatological products covering liquids (including flammables), ointments and creams, supplying every hospital (private and public) in the UK. In May 2002, Medical Solutions Ltd acquired the company with Rod becoming COO of the new group as well as continuing in his role as MD of Adams Healthcare. In December 2002 he sold the Adams Healthcare Division of Medical Solutions Ltd to Ecolab Inc, becoming European Projects Director for the company until 2004.
Rod was appointed to the Board of Syntopix Ltd, a dermatological drug R&D company in October 2004. He was appointed CEO in November 2005 to lead the successful flotation of the company onto the AIM market, which occurred in March 2006. In January 2007 Rod became Chairman of Syntopix Group Plc.
Dr Adams was appointed Chairman of Cizzle Biotechnology Ltd in August 2007. The company focused on the research and development of therapeutic and diagnostic products for lung cancer and was a spinout from York University.
He was appointed Chairman of Neotherix Ltd in July 2008. Neotherix is a regenerative medicine company founded as a spinout from Smith & Nephew to develop innovative products for soft tissue repair of acute wounds.
